DP-SDI Damping Coating Quantity Estimator

DP-SDI is laid at 1.5 mm with a tolerance of plus or minus 0.5 mm, and its density is specified as not more than 1,100 kg/m³. Those two figures are all an estimate needs. Enter the plate area you are treating and the estimator returns the wet quantity at nominal thickness and across the full tolerance band, so the order covers the thick end rather than the nominal case.

What this estimate is and is not

It is a material quantity, not a fire or acoustic result

The estimator multiplies area by thickness by density. It says nothing about the damping performance achieved on your plate, which depends on plate thickness, stiffener spacing and how the coating is constrained. DP-SDI is also the constrained-layer film inside our floating floor build-ups, and inside a build-up its quantity comes from the layer schedule rather than from this calculation.

The tolerance band is the number to order against

Ordering at nominal thickness leaves nothing for the upper half of the tolerance band. The table returns the quantity at 1.0 mm, at 1.5 mm and at 2.0 mm so the purchase order can be placed against the thick end, and the application allowance is applied on top of whichever figure you work from.

Surface preparation, application method and coverage rates are a separate line in the quotation. Send them with the enquiry and we will state them explicitly rather than leave them assumed.
